Please help keep #SLC safe and avoid a $1,000 fine. Fireworks are completely banned in these areas:

West of Redwood Road
East of 900 East
North of South Temple
All City parks and green spaces

The Fire Marshall has determined these areas are at particular risk for fire due to their proximity to wild land areas and tree coverage.

If you live outside these areas, please consider avoiding fireworks this year as well. Remember the loud noises scare pets, upset some of our veterans, and add pollution to the air. You can celebrate the 4th with a free and safe show at Jordan Park beginning at 10pm.

Please call 801-799-3000 if you wish to report violations of the Fire Marshall’s order.

Safety tips for discharging fireworks:

  • Fireworks may be discharged in approved areas only.
  • Only Class 1.4G fireworks that cannot travel more than 15 ft. in to the air (vertically) or 10 ft. on the ground (horizontally) are state approved for residential and recreational use.
  • Fireworks that explode (firecrackers) are prohibited.
  • Fireworks such as bottle rockets and roman candles are strictly prohibited.
  • No fireworks discharge shall be allowed within the distance of 150 ft. of the fireworks stand or trailer.
  • Parents are strongly encouraged to supervise their children while using fireworks.
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby to place spent fireworks in for at least 12 hours before discarding into a garbage can.
