Helen’s Neighborhood Orchard is a community demonstration orchard in a urban setting that utilizes a technique called high density planting.
Fifty Five apple and pear trees were planted close together on dwarfing or size-controlling root stocks. By using size-controlling root stocks, you are able to increase tree densities dramatically to achieve higher yield per acre, better fruit quality, and earlier production.
