Rebecca Pyle is a Salt Lake artist who now lives in the East Central neighborhood.
Looking west at night she sees the Walker Center’s blue-lit tower, and just to its left,
a building topped by a glowing golden pyramid, with small ruby dots at its triangle points.
Looking further toward the drift of clouds over the Great Salt Lake,
she often thinks of painting the Great Salt Lake.
Oil, oil pastel, or beeswax crayon are the materials she has been using this year.
These two works, below, Near the Porch: Listening to the Music (oil pastel on wood), and
From the Porch: Naming the Song (oil pastel on wood), were both created this summer by her for the festival.
